A Little About Me
From Illness to Wellness and Beyond
A global heart-centered leader, serving those in need
A little about myself...
I was a very sick child.
Almost monthly I would miss several days of school due to respiratory illnesses, allergies, fevers, earaches and stomach problems.
Thanks to my mother, when I was 13 years old, I received my first chiropractic adjustment.
That was when my whole life instantly changed!
In that very first adjustment I 'knew' why I was born and what I was meant to do with my life.
I was born and raised in New York by Southern Italian immigrant parents. At the age of 13 I was first exposed to Chiropractic care. At that time, under the tutelage of my first chiropractors, while gearing up to enter Chiropractic school, I began to study the philosophy of both Chiropractic care and of NetworkSpinal care.
In 1990 I graduated with a B.S. degree in Biology from Mercy College, Dobbs Ferry, NY. And, in 1994 I received the degree of Doctor of Chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. I also received the President’s Award for excellence in clinical work.
After graduation I moved to Boston and founded The Back to Life Wellness Center which became the largest privately-owned wellness center within the city of Boston utilizing a multi-disciplinary integrative approach to aid the Boston community. The center earned the "Best of Boston" award 4 years in a row from The Improper Bostonian.
Along with private practice, I currently am the International Director for SomatoRespiratory Integration Technologies for the EpiEnergetics Institute, and assist as an international staff SomatoRespiratory Integration (SRI) & 12 Stages facilitator, instructor, Gate Staff member and NetworkSpinal teacher. I am also an adjunct faculty member at Sherman College of Chiropractic and Life Chiropractic College West.
Dr. Abate was awarded the "Best Chiropractor in Manhattan Award" by the US Commerce Association for 2011, 2012 and 2013.
Since 1995 Dr. Abate has been active in bringing wellness care to the HIV/AIDS communities of Boston and New York. He was the president of ‘A World of Choices’, a group dedicated to delivering complimentary holistic care to those with HIV/AIDS. He served as a board of director for the AIDS Care Project and provided complimentary Network Spinal Analysis to their clients in need. Dr. Abate has also participated in the Boston to New York and the Northeast AIDS rides since 1997; and was the official chiropractor for Avon’s Breast Cancer Walk. In 2011 Dr. Abate, along with a team of NSA/SRI practitioners provided complimentary care to the residents of Integrity House—a drug rehab program in Newark, NJ.
There are no words to describe Dr. Abate's love and care for his clients. We were all strangers to him. He didn't even know my brother at all. He received a phone call and dropped everything to care for my brother in his last week of life. Due to his extraordinary care and love my brother was able open his eyes for a few minutes and see his wife and 2-year old twins, and his 1-week old son for the first time; and then to eventually transition peacefully and gently. Our family is so grateful to Dr. Abate for his realness, his love, his expert skill, his willingness to go above and beyond, and to treat my brother and us as if we were his own family.
